Santana Practice Day SUNDAY, April 25!

Please email Tom Montoya by March 5th if you can attend.

We would have a number of short windward / leeward races. Meet at the dock in Clipper Cove on Treasure Island for some chatting, maybe a pot luck, then go out and do some more practice starts and mark roundings before calling it a day.

It may cost $10 per boat to use the dock and restrooms. If we have at least five boats committed, Tom and Javier will coordinate and play race committee.

This will also give people a chance to pay their 2010 class dues of $35.00, if you have not done so by then. Please mail your dues to Wayne Best now. It will help the Fleet decide what sort of trophies we can do for half season winners (more news to come), as well as support the Nationals Regatta that you will not want to miss!

2010 Nationals

Hello fellow Santana 22 owners,

I want to get a short note out regarding the 2010 Nationals Regatta. As most are aware, Encinal Yacht Club is the sponsoring club. We have been in communications with them and the dates for the regatta have been set. So, mark your 2010 calendars for Friday, 7/30 through Sunday, 8/1. We will sail the same format of a practice race on Friday, 7/30, with three races on Saturday and two races on Sunday. The course area will be in the YRA TI course (YRA mark #10) vicinity.

More to follow.

Tom Montoya
2010 Fleet Captain

Why a Santana 22?

If you are looking for competitive one design racing on the San Francisco Bay at a fraction of the cost of other fleets, the Santana 22 is your boat. The Santana 22 is a 40 year old design that was conceived expressly for sailing on the bay. The class currently maintains an active racing schedule participating in the YRA One Design Class Association series in addition to several other races. Our sailors range from some of the best in the bay to those who are just getting started in racing.

Santana 22s are the cheapest way to get into one design racing. Race ready boats are commonly found for sale at less than $2,000. Strict one design rules keep costs on sails and rigging down while maintaining a tight fleet. The Santana 22 is also an extremely safe and forgiving boat to sail.

New boats are also available from the manufacturer, WD Schock. For more information on new boats and Santana 22 history, go to the WD Schock website
